2023 Wedding Flower Trends To Watch

Magenta! (And colorful florals). With the announcement of Viva Magenta as Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2023, we can expect bright pink blooms to dominate the 2023 wedding season. Our top choice for a creative stem to incorporate this trend? Bougainvillea! From tropical to traditional, this bright blooms is a great way to bring a note of the year’s hottest color and one of Florida’s favorite blooms to your wedding floralscape.

For tablescapes, candles and non-floral decor elements are also taking center stage. Add framed photos of the couple or color-coordinating taper candles in hurricane shades to maximize this trend.
Black & White Weddings.

While some of this year’s brides are going bright and bold, others are opting for blacks and whites, with metallic notes for a look that screams glam. Anemone and scabiosa, as well as preserved and dyed floral, are great ways to incorporate blacks into an otherwise white floral color scheme.

This year’s trend in floral for groom and groomsmen is the pocket boutonnière, or floral pocket square. These pieces slip easily into suit pockets (no more fussing with pins) and make an elegant statement.

For those not wearing jackets, bouts are more elaborate, incorporating smaller, more elaborate designs, rather than a traditional single rose.

With the rise of focal point floral installations, this year we are seeing more segmented arches. Their loose, whimsical designs add a colorful frame to ceremony photos, and they can easily be moved and repurposed at reception entrances or behind sweetheart tables.

Fresh Cake Floral. Instead of sugar flowers on this year’s wedding cakes, brides are opting for fresh floral to coordinate with bridal pieces. From simple and understated to elaborate cascades, keep an eye out for this trend.

In the vein of non-floral decor, this year’s weddings are seeing pops of disco, with disco balls decorating ceremony scenes or hanging from reception spaces.

This year’s reception pieces are losing their structure, and loose, whimsical, asymmetrical florals are taking center stage. Along with traditional, gold and silver compote vases, watch for the emergence of white ceramic compotes.

Also taking a turn in the spotlight are long, farmhouse style tables with multi-level floral and decor pieces to add height and interest to reception spaces.
